The Metaverse Lie?

It's an opinion I know, but this week I found myself in a debate about the Metaverse and digital futures.

It must have reflected the debate of centuries ago on whether the earth was flat of round. (Although some people are astoundingly in the former group- but hey ho these are days of diverse thinking??!!).

Any how's back then it was still to be proven. As is my strong belief that the metaverse will change the way we live.

But crucially we must look to career trends and the preparation of upcoming generations for that world.

That means looking at education both in the formative years and vocational.

Technology is moving at pace that throws convention to the side without a second thought.

Higher education institutions still haven't fully embraced what I see as the inevitable. That centuries old seats of learning will continue to exist, but effectively be massive academia data centres and innovation hubs.

Full of tech wizardry developing new content and digital delivery methods. It's already a huge business.

And just like these institutions the corporate ones will also change. Business which requires physical footfall and presence will remain. The rest becoming digital distributors.

Cities will return to being more about habitation, leisure and lifestyle. Becoming akin to huge Central Parks at the weekend! All in quest to get away from the digital.

We've seen the pace of change in our own lifetime and those things which can still remind us we are humans on a beautiful earth. Susceptible to everything in the environment around us.

And importantly an environment we must continue to respect and nurture.

What I describe is a co- existence of worlds within worlds. It's a big gig and something which needs that greater level of realisation and action now.

We must plan and get right for our futures and that of emerging generations!
