Any job interview is an exciting and sometimes nerve wracking experience. Main thing is , as well as success, is enjoying the experience. By looking at the interview as something to enjoy you will feel relaxed and come across in a more personable way. Of course do not be over-relaxed and ensure that air of professionalism also shines through.
Below are some helpful pointers to enhance, enjoy and hopefully succeed from the experience. May seem obvious but you'd be amazed how the simple yet effective elements can be overlooked!
In Advance
Know your CV and the likely questions to arise from that.
Be clear and confident on the opoints you want to get across and stimulate the opportunity to get those in.
Know why you want the role and articulate what you can bring to it.
During the Interview
Ensure an impeccably smart appearance.Don't fill your pockets such that your jacket doesn't sit smartly.
Keep jacket fastened as you go in and unbutton as you sit down.
Smile at everyone in attendance and say your greetings
Sit in a relaxed but attentive way- don't slouch !
Ensure constant eye contact with everyone interviewing you-don't focus on one person
If you are unclear of a question seek clarification
Don't rush into answers- pause and consider the answer they may be looking for
Don't ramble on - answer concisely yet comprehensively
Always have a question to ask- better if it's on something brought up at the interview
Thank everyone for their time- shake their hands and smile !
