Do You Adopt or Adapt with Technology?

Every business on earth seems to be interested in cloud and other developing technologies. Their appetites whetted by the virtual digital blanket which can connect new customers and markets with their products and services.

They'll spend massively to get the benefit. A year later when there is none, that same technology and its suppliers will be saddled with the results.

But actually it won't in most cases, be them. I've seen many so called transformations which focus on the shiny stuff but forget the people and process around it.

Technologies and outputs require on inputs. Data from business performance,  provided and analysed by commercial expertise. The aim; to build strategy,  deal with tactical actions and msibtain a healthy commercial performance.

The technology cannot do this on its own. It requires a purpose,  a clear indication of what the top level outcomes need to be. More than that,  it needs to be a multi-shot in the arm process to maintain innovation as markets dictate.

The best way to use technology is in helping to adapt. Not merely adopting to stay the same, that's just waste. The adaption which helps thr business ...

Automates repeatable tasks
Opens a multi channel,  self-serve customer channel 
Which provides data to assess and enable continuous improvement.

If you're going to invest in being future proofed, it's no use if you've not proofed the overall vision!
