Vinyl Final...the Music Challenge

As you do, or maybe you don't?during lockdown, you get into the understated labyrinth to find your old records.

Wading through a collection of "stuff" you just put away and never got round to clearing out. But after a few years that stuff becomes "memorabilia!!"

Within that memorabilia I know I had my vinyls. The covers not as shiny as they once were  when you carefully went shopping and guarded it to stop being broken.

Every Saturday the streets were awash with skim carrier bags from HMV or the little boutique music shops. The shopkeeper more often than not in a black t-shirt with more make-up than women wore at the time.

Anyhow I had got a Bluetooth turntable a couple of years back and decided I would have  little retro club night. Just me, a beer and Bowie!

Moving through those legendary 70s albums , timeless classics with lyrics obscure they alwsyd intrigued to find the meanings and musings of the man!

Tonight I will move to the 80s genre I think. That electro- pop era of big hair and anthems songs from cheesy 80s brat pack movies.

But over and above that great music, vinyl adds something else,  an enhancement that only those around at the time would appreciate. If it happened to the generation of today they would scream in horror,  but they are spoiled with the crispness if digital technologies.

And I am also a fan of the digital but those who know vinyl know what I'm talking about above. The crackle!

That grinding noise as the needle hits the record on the lead in to a legendary track.

It's not just playing a tune it is literally being transferred to a different time.

So yes the digital is great but the vinyl is beyond the music!!

So if you're feeling down in locked down just " kick off your red shoes and dance the blues!"

Oh and with a nice glass of red!!
