Parallel Technology World
I had a mad thought earlier when I was thinking about how different generations are using technology and social media.
The great thing is that the generational divide is closing as older generations embrace the wonders of tech.
In many cases it's enhanced their lives, kept them in touch and given the ability to learn new things.
I do wonder however looking a few decades on if the generations will continue to be as technologically connected?
Will there for example be a chasm formed between still savvy technically minded people and a virtual world.
A generation perhaps that becomes lost in a virtual and parallel digital landscape?
Never really venturing out, having online occupations and only socialising with like minded people in that virtual world.
We're already seeing the advent of major sports events being turned into virtual events. The daring take part whilst the intrigued only watch.
And that will only grow and grow, creating a multi tier society. Not in class terms but technology terms.
And as that technology world takes over and grows so it becomes distanced from normal life.
Languages and cultures become obscured and traditions disappear. Those new focus areas being born from applications and digital architecture. Their focus the virtual rather than the real.
But I know this is all too far fetched for it to happen anytime soon?!
