Let's Not Destroy More Planets
The Great Orange One in the White House has thrown his toys out and gone in a huff. No more press briefings from him...hopefully now we will just hear people with intelligence and human dignity.
He, being the space cadet he is will, on the other hand, be away formulating his plans to mine and destroy the moon.
Please don't! The moon and everywhere else in the universe does not belong to the USA or anyone on this earth.
We have done enough destruction to our own planet Nd under Covid, some of our environment is healing. A balance long forgotten is becoming resurgent.
Surely we should take as a sign and build on this change. To see the positives of natural beauty with humans living in harmony with the world and all within it.
Material possessions are no guard or cure against a pandemic. Positivity, caring and community along with of course our wonderful front line health workers.
These folks don't go out thinking " what can I destroy today to add to my billions?" They put their own lives on the line to help others.
So back to the planets. We have a curiosity to understand the universe. I don't think we truly ever will on this earth. The vastness of it is way beyond our reach.
Curiosity however is harmless. It's good to understand our near planetary neighbours and get some insight to them.
But on what planet do we feel it's right to destroy for capital gain for a few people who can never possibly spend all the money they have!
Perhaps instead they put their money back into our environment and create alternative industries built on appreciating our beautiful earth.
To plaster over the scarred industrial wastelands. To clear effluents from our water and let marine life return. Venice is going wild about its new attractions...visible fish and jellyfish in the canals.
Just think about that for a second and let it resonate. The world is healing and we are seeing return of creatures to their own habitat.
Put that into perspective. Do we need to pour raw materials into the sea. Do we need fast food cartons polluting our waterways? Get perspective folks and you may im your lifetime and that of your children see many wonderful things returning. Things that looked like they were being lost to our damaging ways, only to appear in books and online.
This is our chance to literally bring them back to life! We should not waste the opportunity!
And as for those celestial bodies. Just look to those much clearer skies and appreciate the beautiful mystery of the stars!!
