Tired of Technology ?
In both business and social lives technology plays a massive part, especially over the past couple of months.
Even the small number who shied from technology in their homes have had it thrust upon them. It is a necessary means of communication with the outside world and without it we would feel even more restricted!
So if I were to fast forward to the days post corona,I wonder how they will look. We will absorb nd wallow in human interaction.
The ability to be with people and treasure that real life contact.
Especially for all those young single folks who must be counting the days to getting back to the hunting grounds of romance.
I expect that when the reunion comes a number of us may look very different due to an imbalance of fridge raiding and exercise.
"Is that really you? You seem...." stop!!!! After months apart, conflict is certainly not the way to go!
But I do wonder if our use of technology may take a back seat, even temporarily? After all kids are resurrecting games that are new to them but commonplace years ago!
Pavements are chalked with all sorts of games, perhaps with a modern slant but whatever!
When you see folks out walking there is hardly a phone in sight, unless they're snapping photos.
People are walking and talking to each other...actually face to face!!!! How novel?
It's as though people didn't realise what the world was like on their own doorstep. Always rushing about or only looking up from their phone to avoid pedestrian collision.
And what's more the pace of life has slowed. Technology has given us the ability to deal with things more spontaneously, to react, sometimes without sufficient thought and to have knowledge at our fingertips.
The odd meteor passing by would be looked at online rather than people going out to see it. Now folks are actively rising off their arses to go view the night sky!
This is surely what technology should be about? To create awareness, to inform and for us to physically act upon it.
We shouldn't be viewing life through a screen, real life should be directly visible. We can use the technology to record the experiences but surely the priority is to first of all enjoy the experience?
It's all too easy just to lock and load events in a device. We have minds with the ability to record memories. Those minds need exercised to stay fit. To record and recall, to imagine, to think and to be visionary.
Ironically in a way it is the greatest minds which gave given us that technology! And that's because of the experiences they had formulated their thinking.
The world has become complacent through the convenience technology present us.
That's no bad thing but surely what we seek is convenience which stimulates and enhances our lives as we live them and that doesn't always need an app or device!
There is no need to tire of technology, we should continue to embrace it and create the balance between our real and virtual worlds, it's that simple!
