Last Orders No More?
So in these days of lockdown, like most folks, my Saturday night is a smorgasbord of quizzes and silly games with friends online.
Isn't it hilarious that you can actually see people getting drunker and drunker more than when out.
Slowly sliding down the sofa as the wine glass gets higher and yes you guessed it, the red wine goes everywhere.
Suddenly the quiz is put on temporary hold as a mini domestic takes over proceedings. The live online audience loving the hilarity of what's unfolding before their eyes.
It's amazing how quickly people forget they are being watched as the wine soaked husband strops his clothes and the wife butt up to camera starts wiping the stains.
Not sure about you but it seems these online Saturdays are now a source of week long military style planning.
Who's doing the quiz, how can we control it with the number of people online? I need to rearrange my furniture and so it goes on.
Even down to choosing wines. I was once that person that randomly threw wine bottles into the shopping basket based on how good the label looked.
Not now. Masked and gloved up, I study the labels, I'm taking note of the regions and vineyards, spending a little more ( but still a lot less than a night out) and taking care not to spill any !
I'm wondering if once things return, these Saturday nights may become the mainstay for some or at least frequently revisited?
Or will pub quizzes grow exponentially. After all sitting in a pub just chatting now seems rather boring? Who knows they may just open a virtual bar where people can mingle online from their own homes.
And above all else there is no last orders! The lock in is the norm at the moment albeit just not in the pub!
