Technology Takeover

Do you sometimes wonder if one day your computer monitor will just swipe you off your seat and take over your work?

Just now we have the option to be told when our grammar isn't good or when we do something that doesn't compute.

Of course there is already artificial intelligence which is out there, thinking for itself awaiting for that day when it will be completely unleashed! That will be the day that all those sci-fo films are reflected upon as the prophetic messengers of the new age.

And to some extent this outlook is already encouraging some strange behaviours and frankly unrealistic expectation. At least in the near term!

On large enterprise rollout you would think, listening to some, that such programmes will realise technologies that do everything for you.

But let's get real. Contrary to what some hope. These will not wake you up, dress you, pack you off to work and enable you to sit and drink coffee all day! At least not outside some production lines( minus the waking and getting dressed element).

We need to use these technologies to be more dynamic and to provide rich management data.

Data that informs action. Whether that be around sales volumes and trends, performance analysis or shaping new customer campaign models.

The whole purpose of data should be to elevate the value of people. To move from mundane volume activity to higher level engagement activities.

Surely it is better to have good sales and customer relationship managers doing those roles instead of sitting doing volume and low value activities.

For every minute away from sales or providing good service is lost revenue and customer impact!

So create a balance and a culture where people are doing and enjoying the job they intended doing.
