Travel Programme
I don't think it matters how often you go away travelling, there is always that night before what do I need to get ready, do I have everything packed and you convince yourself , yep that's all covered.
Then you get to your destination and the forgotten essential, may be not the toothbrush but there will always be something.
So what do you do to overcome this ? Have a complete travel kit which you wash as soon as you get home then re-pack, ready for the next trip ? Everything compartmentalised in a ready built bag so nothing can be forgotten. There could even be little sensors that beep beep beep at you until they are all covered. No more the worry if you have everything in your luggage, the little beeper will help you with that.
Or alternatively and simply, plan for what you expect to be doing. That said, when away on business you can't quite plan like that as you will most of the time , or at least I do find that your schedule is never as planned.
One thing you can learn however, as a regular traveller is how to travel light. Making sure that if you are away for a couple of nights you have the essentials and pack clothes that you know you will wear. I still have colleagues who turn up with massive bags with two or three changes of clothing yet find that by the time they get from the offcie to their hotel (via a bar perhaps ?!) it is time to go to bed.
All they need is their pyjamas or onesie ! for leisure wear. The rest of their stuff will likely end up back home neatly folded as it was the night before they left.
So rather than take the over-size bag and feel you have to fill, why not think about what you actually need and take a bag to suit. As for any of those little things you forget, I'm confident most hotel chains have now cornered the market in stocking up on most needed- most forgotten items.
Don't forget the toothbrush.
