Dig Deep for Future

Every business leader who wants to encourage a future forward team has to really understand strength of foundation.

What I mean by that is the skillsets in your team,  the experience and the ambition and leadership talents.

That's the people side and even then, there's more!

Next is the process side of things. What's in place, why and what value does it bring? Any process that's been around for three years or more would, I suggest, be in need of some refresh.

And when you look at these processes understand the impact on cost and resources and within it, what are routine activities?

That way when you move to the next stage; technology, you've got some objectives and ideas to shape the future infrastructure.

You must ensure that when choosing technologies it's not just left to the IT expert. Otherwise you're in danger of a technical rather than business driven purchase.

To achieve the outcome it's all about mixing the technical and the commercial. Having a clear blueprint of objectives,  the returns on those and the more efficient shape of the organisation.

This helps determine the technology, the areas it will penetrate and to what extent. It will if around cloud, conceivably lead to outsourcing arrangements. Another important commercial consideration as they'll need good contracts around them.

All in all if you get this right , you're in a better position to transform your business and have it future fit.
